Embeds

Creating Embeds

Embeds can be created and stored on Auxdibot using a variety of commands and mechanics.

Embed Builder

Auxdibot featured an Embed Builder that allows users to create Embeds using an interactive message with components. Administrators who wish to create an embed can begin creating an embed by running the command /embed build [id]. The id parameter is optional, but the user running the command will not be allowed to store the Embed if they have not specified an id. Embeds can be customized by using the various buttons and select menus beneath the message.

Once the user is finished creating their Discord embed, the user can choose to either Post or Store (if an id is specified) the embed. Once an Embed is stored, the Embed builder will close and no further customization can be made.

Storing Embeds

When an Embed is stored, the Embed, its message content, and placeholders are stored on Auxdibot. Stored Embeds can be created using Embed Parameters by running the command /embed storage command (id) [...embed parameters]. Stored Embeds can also be created using JSON by running the command /embed storage json (id) (json)

Posting Embeds

Embeds can be posted using a Stored Embed ID, a set of Embed Parameters, or JSON. When an Embed is posted, it is sent along with its message content, placeholders, and webhook URL to the channel specified in the command. Users can post an embed by running the /embed post embed (channel) (id), /embed post command (channel) [...embed parameters], or the /embed post json (channel) (json) commands.

Editing Embeds

Embeds can be added to existing messages sent by Auxdibot only using a Stored Embed ID, a set of Embed Parameters, or JSON. Users can edit an Auxdibot message by running the /embed edit embed (message_id) (id), /embed edit command (message_id) [...embed parameters], or the /embed edit json (message_id) (json) commands.

Storing Embeds

Viewing Stored Embeds

All of your stored embeds can be viewed under the /embeds storage list command, and can be previewed by selecting a Stored Embed from the dropdown beneath the Stored Embeds list.

Utilizing Stored Embeds

Stored Embeds can be utilized in Notification feed messages, the server Levelup message, reaction roles, scheduled messages, and greeting messages. In order to apply a Stored Embed to a message, specify the id of the Stored Embed in that command.

Stored Embeds can also be utilized in the Dashboard, by opening the "Stored Embeds" dropdown when creating a message, and clicking on the Embed you wish to apply. The Embed will then auto-fill the Embed settings and Message Content textbox.

Embed Parameters

warning

Features that utilize Embed Parameters are much better experienced on the Auxdibot Dashboard! If your Embed produces an error, which is most likely caused by malformed syntax, you will recieve a generic error message.

If you are creating an Embed using Discord slash commands, you can utilize the following parameters:

ParameterDescription
colorA color represented by a HEX code.
titleThe title of the embed.
descriptionThe description of the embed.
footer_textThe text for the footer of the embed.
author_textThe text for the author of the embed.
author_icon_urlA URL pointing to the image for the author of the embed.
footer_icon_urlA URL pointing to the image for the embed's footer.
image_urlA URL pointing to the image for the embed.
thumbnail_urlA URL pointing to the image for the thumbnail of the embed. (small image at the top right)
title_urlA URL that will be used for the title, that will redirect users when clicked.
author_urlA URL that will be used for the author, that will redirect users when clicked.
fieldsThe Embed Fields for the Embed. See "Embed Fields" below for more info.

Embed Fields

warning

Embeds created with slash commands do not support inline fields.

For commands that use Auxdibot's embed creation parameters, there is a fields parameter. For every field, use |d| to seperate field titles from their descriptions, and |s| to seperate fields. Fields Example

Field 1|d|Field description for Field 1...|s|Field 2|d|Field description for Field 2...

is the equivilant to

Field 1

Field Description for Field 1…

Field 2

Field description for Field 2…

JSON (Advanced)

Discord Embed JSON is supported on Discord. Administrators or members with permission can obtain the JSON data for any Embed by running the command /embed json (message_id) where message_id is a valid Discord message ID.

Administrators or members with permission can create an Embed using Discord Embed JSON by running the command /embed post json (channel) (json), or store an Embed using JSON by running the command /embed storage json (id) (json).

Webhook Users (Advanced)

info

You can read more about Discord Webhooks or how to obtain a Webhook URL here.

When running a command to create, store, or edit a Discord Embed (or other Auxdibot module message!), a webhook_url parameter can be specified. (https://discord.com/api/webhooks/XXXXX) The Webhook's channel MUST match the channel Auxdibot is sending the Embed to, or you will not be able to send the Discord Embed.
